Low Angle Rope Rescue:
This is the first in a series of weekend courses in Rope Rescue conducted by Progressive Rescue Solutions, Inc. which is sponsored by the Tennessee Association of Rescue Squads (TARS). This is an entry level class for beginners and more experienced rope rescue personnel. This class meets and exceeds the National Fire Protection Associations’ (NFPA) Awareness Level for rope rescue standards outlined in 1006 &1670. Class begins with a thorough equipment familiarization and safety lecture on Friday night then moves to “hands-on” Saturday morning and Sunday. Students will gain knowledge in knots used in rope rescue, anchoring techniques, raising and lowering mechanical advantage systems, patient tie-in to the litter, low angle litter harness rigging and multiple low angle rescues. Dependent upon the class there will be a low angle rescue night operation completed by students.
Student Requirements: Students should bring appropriate clothing for weather conditions (i.e. rain, cold), a tight fitting pair of leather gloves, boots to protect ankles, protection for eyes, knee pads, elbow pads and be ready for a great deal of physical activities, as well as provide your own food and drinks.
PRS, Inc.: Will provide all harnesses, helmets, lights, handouts, Prusik material, ropes, webbing and all other gear in order to conduct the class. Students are welcome to bring their own equipment but it must be approved by the instructor before it can be used in in class. A letter of confirmation along with directions upon registration & payment for class will be sent to student.
Certifications: PRS, Inc. will provide a certificate of completion and the TN. Assoc. of Rescue Squads will provide certificate of completion through the Rescue College as well as 1 C.E.U. upon completion of the class.
Class Hours: Friday night 7PM – 11PM; Saturday 8AM-6PM; Sunday 7AM-5PM (approximately 24 Hour class)
