Recreational Rappelling & Rigging Course: This is a class open to the general public. It is an actual structured class in order to learn how to rig their own rappel and belay systems for recreational use conducted by Mountain Rope Safety Courses. Class begins Saturday morning with equipment familiarization, safety procedures and knot tying. We then move outside for anchoring techniques and rappelling with various devices. Sunday we will go out into the field and hike to the bluffs in order to practice your new skills. Student Requirements: Please wear appropriate clothing for weather conditions (i.e. cold weather bring warm clothing). Bring tight fitting leather type gloves, boots to protect ankles, knee pads and elbow pads are suggested. Bring your own food and water in a small day pack. Participants under 18 years of age must have parent/guardian sign assumption of liability release before being allowed to participate in activities! Please inform MRSC so we can fax forms to those youth groups or scouts before arriving and bring those forms with you or mail them prior to attending. Physical Requirements: You must be able to walk up and down steep mountainous terrain and carry equipment. Mountain Rope Safety Courses: MRSC will provide all helmets, harnesses and all rope equipment for these trips. A letter of confirmation along with directions upon registration & payment for class will be sent to student.
