Rope Rescue Operations (4 Day Session)

{Formerly Low Angle, Rope Rescue Tech. 1&2}
Conducted by PRS, Inc. which is sponsored by TARS; the class is for entry level personnel and more experienced rope rescuers. This class meets and exceeds the National Fire Protection Associations’ (NFPA) Awareness & Operations Level for rope rescue standards outlined in 1006 &1670. Topics covered in the two weekend sessions will be: Safety, Communications, Equipment Use & Care, Knot Tying, Anchoring, Rappelling, Belaying, Passing Knots, Understanding & Utilizing Mechanical Advantage Systems, Pick-off Rescues, Patient Tie-In to Litter, Low Angle & High Angle Litter Rigging, Multiple Low & High Angle Rescue Scenarios, Self Rescue, and Critical Angles & Directionals.

Student Requirements:Students should bring appropriate clothing for weather conditions (i.e. rain, cold), a tight fitting pair of leather gloves, boots to protect ankles, protection for eyes, knee knee pads, elbow pads and be ready for a great deal of physical activities, as well as provide your own food and drinks.

PRS, Inc.: Will provide all harnesses, helmets, lights, handouts, Prusik material, ropes, webbing and all other gear in order to conduct the class. Students are welcome to bring their own equipment but it must be approved by the instructor before it can be used in in class. A letter of confirmation along with directions upon registration & payment for class will be sent to student.

Certifications: PRS, Inc. will provide a certificate of completion and the TN. Assoc. of Rescue Squads will provide certificate of completion through the Rescue College as well as 1 C.E.U. upon completion of the class.

Class Hours: Thursday 8AM(EST) – Sunday 5PM. (40 hour class)
