Basic Tactical Rappelling: This class teaches the beginner and the more experienced rappellar techniques used in various types of rappelling situations that a tactician may be required to perform. Class begins Saturday with equipment familiarization, safety procedures, knot tying and communication procedures, anchoring techniques, belay techniques, rappelling with various descent devices, checking of equipment and filling out history logs on equipment. Sunday, students will rappel from a high point rig, mid-point rig and low point rig, through a 2 X 2 hole (if available), locking off, self rescue techniques, strong and weak hand braking while descending rope and inverting while on rappel. Students will be required to take a written test reviewing the last two days of training. Student must bring: Safety glasses or goggles, elbow and knee pads, boots to protect ankles, tight fitting pair of leather type gloves, and a side arm with holster that can be used during rappelling (all weapons checked and no loaded guns allowed during class). MRSC: Will provide all rappelling equipment used in order to complete the class and handouts. Students may bring their personal or team equipment but it may only be used after the instructor has inspected and approved its use for class. Certification: MRSC will provide a certificate of completion. Instructor: The class instructor is Dana “Scooter” Sandefur. He is a veteran commisioned police officer in TN. Scooter also has S.W.A.T. certifications I, II, III, Tactical Rappel Master Instructor, Dive Master/Under Water Investigator, CONTOMS Tactical EMT-T, TN. certified firefighter and a certified EMT-IV in TN. to name just a few of his expertise. He has received numerous awards and accommodations throughout his career for his work in the military, emergency services and law enforcement. He has been training police and fire personnel throughout his career.
