Advanced Tactical Rappelling:

This course is a very intensive 2 ˝ days of training in order to prepare law enforcement special operations personnel, advanced tactical rappelling techniques that can be applicable to certain missions. The class begins Friday evening with a review of safety procedures and students demonstrating their skills learned in the basic tactical rappelling class such as knots, anchoring techniques, use of descent devices in rappelling operations that night and equipment check. Saturday morning students will begin raising and lowering operations, quick evacuation rescues and raising partner techniques. By the afternoon they will don full tactical gear and begin rappelling using covert rope deployment, tactical edge roll-offs, window surveillance techniques and full window entries. Sunday begins with continuing operations not completed on Saturday along with learning rope ascending techniques in full tactical gear. Students will be required to take a written test that reviews the past days training.

Student must bring: Full tactical equipment as you would wear on call-outs, body armor, goggles, helmet, elbow & knee pads, gas mask, duty belt, 2 light sources (1 must be a weapon light) and any other equipment your team normally wears on call-outs. Personal or team rappel equipment may be used after prior inspection and approval from the instructor. Weapons will be checked frequently to insure no live ammunition is used during training. Weapons shall be secured with a lanyard while in training. .

MRSC: Will provide all rappelling equipment used in order to complete the class and handouts. Students may bring their personal or team equipment but it may only be used after the instructor has inspected and approved its use for class.

Certification: MRSC will provide a certificate of completion.

Class Hours: Saturday 7AM-6PM; Sunday 7AM-6PM (approximately 20 hour class dependent on class size)

Lodging: Free at Signal Mountain, TN. site.

Instructor: The class instructor is Dana “Scooter” Sandefur. He is a veteran commisioned police off in TN. Scooter also has S.W.A.T. certifications I, II, III, Tactical Rappel Master Instructor, Dive Master/Under Water Investigator, CONTOMS Tactical EMT-T, TN. certified firefighter and a certified EMT-IV in TN. to name just a few of his expertise. He has received numerous awards and accommodations throughout his career for his work in the military, emergency services and law enforcement. He has been training police and fire personnel throughout his career.
