Rope Rescue Technician I This is the second in a series of weekend courses in Rope Rescue conducted by PRS, Inc. which is sponsored by TARS. The Class begins Friday night with safety review then moves on to anchoring and rigging for rappelling and belaying techniques, self rescue and passing knots on rappel. Saturday begins with rappelling pick-offs then moves on to lowering and raising pick-offs using mechanical advantage systems. Sunday begins with rappelling, switching to ascending and back to rappelling using some basic equipment and Sunday afternoon we will learn to pass knots through mechanical advantage systems. Student Requirements: Students should bring appropriate clothing for weather conditions (i.e. rain, cold), a tight fitting pair of leather gloves, boots to protect ankles, protection for eyes, knee knee pads, elbow pads and be ready for a great deal of physical activities, as well as provide your own food and drinks. PRS, Inc.: Will provide all harnesses, helmets, lights, handouts, Prusik material, ropes, webbing and all other gear in order to conduct the class. Students are welcome to bring their own equipment but it must be approved by the instructor before it can be used in in class. A letter of confirmation along with directions upon registration & payment for class will be sent to student. Certifications: PRS, Inc. will provide a certificate of completion and the TN. Assoc. of Rescue Squads will provide certificate of completion through the Rescue College as well as 1 C.E.U. upon completion of the class.
