Rope Rescue Technician III
This is the fourth in a series of weekend courses in rope rescue conducted by Progressive Rescue solutions, Inc. which is sponsored by the Tennessee Association of Rescue Squads. The class, however, is longer than just the weekend as it will be Thursday-Sunday. Those personnel wishing to meet the NFPA Rope Rescue Technician level according to standards 1006 & 1670 will meet those requirements after completing this course. The class will “put to the test” all of the skills and knowledge that students have experienced in previous courses in order to perform various rope rescue scenarios. Several different highline techniques will be taught along with pendulum techniques which relate to water rescue, confined space rescue, cave rescue, tower rescue, trench rescue, industrial rescue and mountain rescue, just to name a few. Every day will be a new site which could include water falls, mountainous terrain, caves or buildings.
Student Requirements:Students should bring appropriate clothing for weather conditions (i.e. rain, cold), a tight fitting pair of leather gloves, boots to protect ankles, protection for eyes, knee knee pads, elbow pads and be ready for a great deal of physical activities, as well as provide your own food and drinks.
PRS, Inc.: Will provide all harnesses, helmets, lights, handouts, Prusik material, ropes, webbing and all other gear in order to conduct the class. Students are welcome to bring their own equipment but it must be approved by the instructor before it can be used in in class. A letter of confirmation along with directions upon registration & payment for class will be sent to student.
Certifications: PRS, Inc. will provide a certificate of completion and the TN. Assoc. of Rescue Squads will provide certificate of completion through the Rescue College as well as 1 C.E.U. upon completion of the class.
Class Hours: Thursday 8AM-6PM; Friday 8AM-6PM; Saturday 8AM-6PM; Sunday 8AM-6PM (approximately 40 hour class, not including travel time to sites!)
